Mediation and arbitration clauses are often set without agreeing upon procedures for how to conduct them. This often involve additional costs and time before a solution is achievable. The SCC Arbitration Institute offers Norwegian companies established processes both ordinary, simplified, express and "emergency" arbitration. They also offer established processes for out-of-court mediation.

Since 1917, the SCC Arbitration Institute has been a neutral, independent and impartial meeting place for commercial dispute resolution globally. The SCC handles around 200 disputes annually with parties from over 40 countries. Last year, Norway was represented in 20 cases, which places Norway among the four most active nations at the SCC.

Madeleine Thörn is Assistant Secretary General and Chief Operating Officer at the SCC Arbitration Institute. She has experience from several law firms in Stockholm where she represented clients in disputes both before ordinary courts and in arbitration. She also has experience from the Swedish judicial system, both district court and the Supreme Court.

In addition to presenting the SCC Arbitration Institute, Madeleine will also suggest what to consider when choosing a dispute resolution method in contracts. She will give some considerations on how long processes take, and how costs can be regulated. There will be a good opportunity to ask questions. The lecture will be held in English.
